How does this word search work?
8 words are hidden in a 10 × 10 grid of letters. Each runs in a straight line: across, down or diagonally, forwards or backwards. To mark one, drag from its first letter to its last, or tap the two ends one after the other. The words to find are listed under the grid and crossed off as you go. Every puzzle is new, and every word appears exactly once, so a find is never ambiguous.
How is your result calculated?
Your result is the time from the moment the grid appears to the moment you find the last word. Lines that spell none of the listed words count as misses and are shown beside your time. If you get stuck, Show the rest ends the game, reveals the words you hadn't found and gives you your count instead of a time.
How do you find words faster?
- Hunt for rare letters. Look for a word's least common letter, a K, a J or a double letter, then check around it in all eight directions.
- Scan for the first two letters together. "CH" or "TR" side by side stands out more than a single letter.
- Remember the backwards words. A word read right to left or bottom to top is easy to miss if you only scan the usual way.
